A fine Stradivari model violin by the award-winning East German violin maker Wilhelm Brückner. Built in the mid-20th century, this violin features a finely grained spruce top and attractively flamed maple back. It is in extremely good condition and has clearly been well cared for over the years. The tone is clear, strong, and bright. The violin comes with a certificate from Ruth Brückner.

Wilhelm Brückner was born on September 30, 1932, in Erfurt, Germany. Initially aspiring to become a forester, he began his apprenticeship with master violin maker Willi Dölling in Markneukirchen at the age of 15. After completing his journeyman's examination in 1951, he worked with master violin maker Willi Lindörfer in Weimar, where the focus was on the quality of instruments and restorations rather than speed.

In 1956, Brückner passed his examination for the master craftsman’s diploma in violin making. He has been working as a freelance and self-employed luthier since 1960, initially concentrating on restoration and repairs. In 1972, he won the gold medal at the Henryk Wieniawski violin making contest in Poland. Additionally, his work was recognized at the 1982 Triennale Antonio Stradivari in Cremona, Italy.

Brückner shifted his focus to the construction of new bowed string instruments, particularly violas, which remains his passion. He is a member of the German Violinmakers Association and the International Viola Society.
