One of Norway’s most prominent and acknowledged violinmakers, Jacob von der Lippe has been making instruments for musicians at home and abroad since 1998. Jacob’s instruments are coming out of the tradition of the Italian masters. He trained at the Istituto Professionale Internazionale per l’Artigianato Liutario e del Legno ‘A. Stradivari’ in Cremona, Italy.

Jacob von der Lippe strives to create instruments that exude warmth, have good projection and exhibit a richness in overtones. In recent years, Jacob has taken out the culminative experience gained from the span of his entire decades-long career to develop develop his own model for violins, violas and cellos.


He is the first and only Norwegian member of the worldwide organization Entente Internationale des Luthiers et Archetiers.

The album "Sculpted Sound" features a beautiful selection of pieces performed by some of Norway's top talent on the instruments that were built for them by Jacob Von Der Lippe. The album was recorded during a series of concerts in spectacular venues around Oslo, Norway. This is a rare chance to become intimately familiar with the sound of Jacob Von Der Lippe's violins, violias and cellos and hear his evolution as an violin maker over the course of his career.
